How to create more jobs

From the local news about a statement from a local member of parliament

Hmm, if you're unemployed you need work, not more days to work.

Maybe there are jobs that are mostly done during the weekend.
For restaurants and bars, the weekend is often most busy.
So yes, the statement is bold formulated but.

I would say, if you're unemployed you need to broaden your horizons, which might include working in time frames you're not used to. Learning new skills or update your existing skills are another way (never too young to learn). Visiting events where-ever your possible employer could be visiting. etc

I would consider the local economy a seven days per week economy. Shops are open 7 days a week, most of them are also open on public holidays. As exception that I'm aware of a butcher shop around the corner and that was closed on Sundays.

I suspect the lots of industries are running 24/7; too expensive to start up ovens and so on.

Just to the fact that my grocery store would have opening hours of 24/7 my weekly need of eggs, milk and tomatoes wouldn't increase. Therefore the grocery store wouldn't make any cent more turnover by extending the opening hours.

I'm leaving in a society with very strict weekday rules, lot of public holidays, well defined maximum hours of work and never had problems to get my eggs, milk and tomatoes in quantities and time I need them.
