how to detect simple hand gestures with PIR motion sensor.

Hi,

I have got a PIR sensor (https://www.amazon.in/xcluma-HC-SR501-Adjust-Infrared-Motion) <<this one.I just want to know how to detect hand gesture eg-wave of my hands. There are some gesture sensors which are quite expensive and they also have a short range of about 10cm :cold_sweat: :cold_sweat: . While PIR sensors have a range of 20 feet or something. So can anyone help out I am working on this project.

Thank you

You cannot. A PIR sensor just detects if there is a change in the temperature in one of it's measurement sectors. The resolution is by far not high enough to detect any gesture. What you are looking for is a device like the Microsoft Kinect.

That is too much expensive. Can you just say how to detect gestures with ultrasonic sensors or something equivalent

Use a cheap distance sensor. I've done just that with a single VL53L0X IR sensor to control an MP3 player: volume up/down, start/stop, next track.

GY-7620 gesture recognition sensor module PAJ7620U2 you can try this
