How to display time from PC to serial monitor without using external hardware?

Hello,

I am trying to display the time from my laptop on the serial monitor. I tried using the example sketch from arduino library TimeSerial. But the time does not show.
Also, I tried using DateTime library but it has been superseded (as written on the website) and during verification, it gives an error saying the program does not recognize byte!
I have Windows 10 and Arduino 1.6.9

Please suggest.

What program are you running on the PC to send the time to the Arduino?
