how to install sensors elegantly (tabletop hardware)

i have yet to find a resource that discusses how to make sensors look good inside a housing.

for example, i'm currently looking at a softpot membrane potentiometer(ribbon sensor). almost every picture on google images shows it in a raw, prototyping form.

how can someone make them look good in an installation? this would apply to anything similar like a pressure sensor. any articles or books that i should look up would be greatly appreciated.

Have you read the ribbon sensor tutorial? You can cover it by paper or foil, to make it invisible from the outside. The wiring inside the housing is up to you.

I'd cover it with ribbon or paper.

thanks that sounds like a good idea. and does anyone know of a good resource on wiring these sorts of sensors into a housing nicely?

Well, commercial products use printed self-adherent vinyl facings to implement "clicker" switches and such.
