How to interface sensors with Arduino

Can anyone suggest if there is a ‘sliding sensor’ and ‘rotation sensor’ that can be interfaced and programmed with the Arduino?

Can the Phidget sensors work with the Arduino board? For example, this Sliding sensor from the Phidget kit : http://www.phidgets.com/index.php?module=pncommerce&func=itemview&KID=114637933524.207.8.139&IID=78 comes with this sensor cable: http://www.phidgets.com/index.php?module=pncommerce&func=itemview&KID=114637933524.207.8.139&IID=90
which hooks onto the Phidget circuit board.

anyone knows if that can be hooked into an Arduino?

thnx

why spend all that money??

the sensors you’re looking at is a regular potentiometre (slider)

like this one http://it.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=8796157&N=401
the one in the link costs 4 euro and you can interface it following this article
http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Potentiometer

let me know how you’re getting on
