How to open command prompt

I am trying to open the command prompt inside a sketch. I assume I have to do it via serial communication. Are there any current library's that do this?

I am not sure I comprehend your question. But if what you want is a shell on Arduino to which you might type commands, you might consider Bitlash, which is available at http://bitlash.net as open source.

Sorry for not be clear enough. I want to open a command prompt on a Windows PC from an Arduino sketch. And be able to send commands from the Arduino to the command prompt. I hope this is more clear!

Oh, for that the answer is easy: You can't.

The Arduino can't do anything to the PC, you need to start a Terminal session on the PC to see the stuff the Arduino sends you. If you want more than looking you need to write a program on the PC to do what you want with the information the Arduino sends you.

Hmmm. Is it limited by the hardware and/or software?

The Arduino can only talk to the serial port on the PC.

There needs to be some software running on the PC to listen to the serial port. That software can do anything you design it to do.

Software. You need software running on the PC to listen to the serial port on the PC.

If the commands you want to run from the command prompt can be run from a cmd (or bat) file you can do it with GoBetwino.

Put each command (or sequence of commands) you want to run in a cmd file and create a GoBetwino command for each cmd file.

From Arduino you can send commands to GoBetwino who in turn will run the cmd files.

Another trick might be to hack the keyboard cable as it is serial ...

keyboards use serial communication, but its not the same serial so "just hacking up a keyboard" is only part of it
