I have a project that needs to get 5v 3-4A. But I need it to work if feed from 12v as well as from 5v.
so I can use a buck (I have a switching buck module that outputs 5v at 4-5A).
the problem is, the buck needs to get at least 7v to be able to output 5v. So it would work if powered from 12v, but not from 5v.
What can I do here? is there any easy way to make it use direct input power if it is 5v, but get it from the buck if it is lets say 12v?
Use a SEPIC (Buck/Boost) converter.
DPDT on-off-on switch do it for you?
