How to program Arduino Pro Mini with serial port RS232

Hello everyone,
I bought an Arduino Pro Mini but I forgot to buy the module to program it.
Before that I order it, I want to know if it's essential.
I have seen that this adapter is used to emulate a serial port, and I wondered if it was possible to use the serial port EIA RS-232.
Do you know how can I do?
