How to put a cable on my product?

I'm designing a product that needs a 3.5mm cable to connect to an iPhone. I'm wondering what's the best way to do it. Here are my options:

  • Use a cable like this one to solder directly to the PCB. If I do this, is there any risk of a consumer breaking the cable by pulling too hard? Also, what is the piece connecting the power adapter to the cable called in this image?
  • Use a 3.5mm socket and just include a cable with the product. Where can I get cheap cables in bulk? Where's the best place?

What do you think is best to do and why?

I would say a socket is best, simplifies things I would think on the pcb, easier for making a lot too
Getting cheap cables is just a matter of finding the cheapest supplier
