How to READ data from the MCP4725 D/A EEprom (IC2)

I need to read the contents of the EEProm on a MCP4725 D/A converter. There’s an Arduino library for the MCP4725 (Adafruit_MCP4725), but as far as I can tell it will only WRITE to the EEProm, not read from it.

Does anyone know if this is correct and if so is there another library that has a routine to read the content of the EEProm? Failing that has anyone written a routine to use the wire librarv and I2C connection to read the contents of the EEprom?

I have no problem writing to the MCP4725 using the Adafruit_MCP4725 library, so the library and I2C connection are working fine, but when I store a number in the EEProm there appears to be no simple way to read it back later to see what’s in there.

Before I try to decipher the MCP4725 datasheet and attempt to figure out what to send and how to send it, I thought I’d ask if anyone has already done this or knows of a simpler way.

I hope this is the correct forum for this question.

Thanks

This code should read the relevant data:

  if (Wire.requestFrom(i2caddr, 5) == 5) {
    uint8_t settings = Wire.read();
    uint16_t dac = Wire.read();
    dac <<= 4;
    dac |= Wire.read() >> 4;
    uint16_t eeprom = Wire.read();
    eeprom <<= 8;
    eeprom |= Wire.read();
  }

The data is not returned in any way, so modify it to your needs.
