How to running a dc motor with encoder

hello, i'm repairing a electronic with a dc motor, but i want to check a dc motor first then the circuit.Then i try to running a dc motor with ic l293d, but the motor doesnt running and sounds only.may any reference the simple circuit to run a dc motor with encoder ?
For information,i have a dc motor 12 v with 6 wire output encoder
1.motor +
2.motor -
3. Gnd
4. UDD
5. Chanel B
6. Chaneel A

i use 12 v and 5 volt for vdd

i only use chanel B

You need to post your program AND your circuit diagram. Without them it is impossible to know what might be the problem.

What size is the motor?
Have you any idea how much current it requires?
When the device was working properly how was it powered?
What is the device?
