How to save 9600 port to text file

I want to listen and save serial 9600 port to text file.

How can I do it?

do you want to have it save as it comes in, or just copy n paste a blob of data?

Download some free serial client program, lots of them can log data.

This looks good but I have no experience of it http://www.eltima.com/products/rs232-data-logger/

What sort of serial port are you talking about?

If it's a TTL level serial port, you need something that can receive and log that - you could Ardulog or make your own equivalent with any Arduino.

If it's an RS232 signaling physical port you need a device that can receive RS232 - as above with an RS232 adapter.

If it's being received at a physical serial port or virtual serial port inside a PC then the options would depend what OS the PC is running, but various serial port terminal programs such as Realterm provide logging capabilities.

Please clarify:

Do you want to:

a) Read data being sent by an Arduino using your PC, and save it to a text file on your hard drive, or b) Read data being sent by some other device using an Arduino, and save it to a text file on an SD card?

The two things are radically different, so we need to know what you mean.
