Hi, so I've seen some solutions to this using processing but I am prompting the user for inputs so I'm unsure if this will still work.

Most of the terminal program such as PuTTY and RealTerm have the ability to write incoming data to a text file. You can't do that with the Arduino Serial Monitor program.
