How to send email notification from nano 33 IoT

I have effectively set up the edge detection (change of state) to engage an LED when a switch is pressed. I want to tether this to an output function of sending a notification or email.

The research I have found has gmail primarily as the email service, and they have recently changed their security settings and it seems that all examples are not voided because of this change. Or at least, appear to be voided.

Is using another type of email feasible? How do I go about setting up this output function?

My experience from about a month ago was that it is easy to set up Gmail to allow mail to be sent from an ESP32

Unless it has changed again all that is needed is to set up your Google account with an App password. A search for "Google App password" should find the details
