If the RX device cannot send an acknowledgement of either correct data message or an error message, your system will not work.
Also from the manual:
However, considering ambient
interference and other factors, if thousands of data bytes are sent
continuously, some number of bytes may be lost. Therefore, the attached devices
at each end of the link should have some sort of response and resending
mechanism to avoid information loss.
