Hello, I bought a Mega 2560 R3 from a small but reputable store that has been in business for many many years. The box says "Arduino MEGA 2560" with a bar code: MD0109252. There is no mention about R3 both on the box and on the board. In the prince tag, it says "Arduino MEGA 2560 Rev3". The circuit is green like the Arduino green but on the current product page, the circuit is blue. How can I tell if it is a real R3?
Check color of the polyfuse and check out the page https://www.arduino.cc/en/Products/Counterfeit
Thanks for the info. It seems to be a real one. How can I tell if a board is Mega 2560 R3 or previous version? Unlike the UNO R3, the Mega 2560 I got does not has "R3" written on it.
I don't know the proper answer to that nor do I know if there really is a Rev 3. The latest version has an ATmega16U2 for the USB-to-serial chip, just like the UNO Rev 3. There is some description of this board on the arduino.cc web site but you have to google to find it since they re-arranged the products section of the web site.
Thanks. I am interested in being able to tell if it is R3 by appearance on board of even better on the box.
