How to upload code to 1000 arduinos or are there other products I should be looking at?

And possibly CE approved ..

You need to think about quality too - cheap clones may not meet all the Arduino specifications and maybe unreliable or have a percentage of failures out the box ( I’ve had dead on arrival ones , ones with some pins not connected properly , infant failures etc etc( not from Aliexpress tho)) . If they start failing after you’ve sold them ....

You need to make a custom board , not a nano.

Think I’d make 6 , put them on eBay and see what happens ..

First observation...
Don’t send the hardware assembly and firmware into the same building.

If your product is successful, there’s a good chance you’ll sell 1000, and someone else will sell 5000.

Second point.
Off the shelf parts (OTS), a $60 item will cost you a minimum $30-50 each. $5 each of that us R&D

If you develop your own pcb/hardware, more likely you’ll have $10 in R&D, and $10-15 in costs.

Let’s see that... Sales = $60K
OTS cost = $35k - $50k. Gross = $10k - $25k profit
DIY cost = $20k - $25k. Gross = $35k - $40k profit

Ok for a hobbyist, but that’s a lot of stamp licking for $15-$25k difference in profit.

Another option is to make and stuff boards.
Use a chip socket.
Buy your chips preprogrammed and plug them in
