How to use the HC-06 without having it connected to the PC

Hi guys,
I have 2 motors connected to Arduino Leonardo and I have connected a BT HC-06. The code works perfectly when I fed to Arduino with the USB cable, but when I remove the cable and feed it with a 9v battery, makes the connection with the phone, but doesnt do anything. I'm working with Serial1 of Leonardo, but I dont know if this function only works if it connected to the PC or not but I want to use the Arduino and the HC-06 with my phone and without having connected to the PC. Thank you for your attention.

6v is the bottom limit, 7v is the minimum recommended. See the data sheets. You need either 5v applied directly, or 7>12v applied via the jack, i.e. through the regulators. If you must use a battery, you would be better off with 6x1.2v AA rechargeables.
