I've never thought much of languages like that. If you're too young to learn C, then you're too young to be doing things that complex. I grew up programming through interest, I've never liked the idea of dumbing it down. Maybe that's an unfair harsh view of things but then again, I think C programming should be done by every child at school in some depth as a language.
For my club, the ones who want to learn it will learn it, and the others will drop out or merely have input on design and behaviour. We're talking 13 year olds for my lot, so it's not like they are too young for C anyway.
