Dust can be blocked by covering the sensor with teflon tape (white plumbers tape)
Teflon lets humidity through, but blocks direct condensation and dust.
I couldn't notice a significant reaction speed difference after covering a bathroom sensor with Teflon. Some humidity sensors already come with the white Teflon cover or with a clip-on part.
