It is a pretty thankless task. 
As is being the content filter management guy. Users don't like you for preventing access to fun sites, and management hates you because (they also can't go to fun sites until they ask and ... ) it almost never works quite right, and IPs change, and everyone assumes it's just some magic box that does its thing perfectly if you configured it right.
