I burned two arduino uno

One of them have the AMS1117 bruned and one of them have U5 burned.

Which one should I use, I'm powering it via external power source 12V on Vin. I got no voltage regulator and I cant buy one.

Sorry about that. I suspect you will have to give up the hobby.

You probably can still use it powered from usb

What is U5? This is the schematic: https://www.arduino.cc/en/uploads/Main/arduino-uno-schematic.pdf

If the AMS1117 is burned, you can not use Vin.

U1, in your schematic - the dual comparator, was named U5 in the older schematic I have.

So can I use it still?

Because I need to power it w/o using usb

Why 12V? You can use a cell phone charger with USB cable; it would be the safest bet. Unless you need the 12V for something else.

And next think about your sins; what did you do to the poor things?

i need 12v for led strips

Neither.
Since the regulator and/or U5 is burned, neither will work with 12V

You'll need 5V for the Arduino(computer OR just a phone charger), keep the 12V for the strips, tie the grounds together, and you should be okay.
Learn to power down all of it before making connection changes - I suspect that's your reason for damage. Shut it all off, make your changes, TRIPLE CHECK them until you have more experience at this game. Then power it back up. Best if you can power them from the same source, but not essential. Putting both power sources in a switched power bar works, too - because that way you can't forget to shut one off.

Im a newbie and I took the wrong cable that has 24V and it toasted. I'll watch out next time.
