I.C. Help

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if there is an I.C. that acts as two latching relays (power isn't important) with both "relays" having set & unset pins?

Many thanks,

Mick.

Do a search for flip-flops, more specifically RS flip-flops, I think that will suit your needs and also explain how they work.

With regards Mike

You may look into 74LS74; it contains 2 D-type flip-flops with individual SET/ and CLR/ pins.

A type D flip flop is not what the OP asked about, RS behavior is what was described. A simple RS f/f can be constructed with two nand or nor gates.

A type D will change its output high only when the input is high and clock pulse pulse occurs. This is totally different behavior than a simple set-reset flip flop which is an analog of a mechanical latching relay, without state retention.

A 74LS74 has a set and clear.

Thank you,

Looking on the RS Components website they don't seem to have a "Logic Family" for RS type, could they be calling it something else?

EDIT: I think I've found them, they call them SR,

Could someone please advise if these are suitable:

Thank you.

Sure.

Or

You can use simple and cheap NAND or NOR gates.

Thanks.
