Which operating system?
What does it think of your board?
Which board?
Does the power led light up?

Cable inserted properly?
Have you tried different cables?

Windows 10
Google says: it is an "Uno Atmega328 Board"
power light is on
the "L" light is blinking

cable should be OK.

I did not ask what google says but what your operating system thinks about it  Now we know your OS, check device manager; any yellow exclamation marks, any 'unknowns' when you connect the board?

Do you have a link / url to the board that you bought?

pls help i have the same problem

@mat_the_tat, what does your operating system (which one) think about the board?

Your board uses the 16U2 chip so should work out of the box.

i have a windows 7 Acer and my computer thinks board works fine but my port button is greyed out and doesn't let me click it

So what does Windows device manager say? Is the board recognised as a Mega as shown below (port can be different).

yes it is recognized as mega

OK, in that case I do not know why you can't select it in the IDE. Very sorry.

nvm i figured it out
