I can't get Mighty1284P to work!

Hello,

I've been trying to get Mighty1284P to work for over 3 days, and i can't get it to upload sketch using serial! Here's what I did:

  1. Downloaded the new https://github.com/JChristensen/mighty-1284p core, and burned the Mighty 1284 16MHz using Optiboot bootloader to my ATMEGA1284P using Arduino as ISP
  2. I connected the Arduino's reset to ground
  3. Loaded the blink sketch
  4. Connected arduino's Rx to Mega's Tx and Vice versa
  5. Clicked upload, reseted Mega, and it says that programmer is not responding.

Please help me.. Thank you.

Why did you do that? Shouldn't it be pulled up to Vcc with 10k resistor?

Yes it should be, and indeed it already is, on the Arduino board. The programmer (i.e. the Arduino) is not responding because it's being held in reset by the grounded reset pin.

What you want is a 10µF capacitor from the reset pin to ground. See http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ArduinoISP
