I can't select the Genuino Micro Arduino board

Hy guys, i'm new there. I have a problem. I bought an arduino pro micro board because I wanted to do the usb handbrake following a video found on youtube (I bought the card through the link that the boy had put under the video). I follow step by step what he does in the video and at a certain point I see that he goes to tools / board: and then selects the Genuine MIcro board. Here comes my problem. When I click tools / board: the Genuino Micro option does not come out. I tried to download the packages but it still doesn't come out. How can I solve?
I attach the screen so that maybe you understand better than my description.
The program is in Italian.
Thanks in advance to who will answer me

Did you install the board using the IDE board manager? That is the best way to install a board.

If you mean directly from the arduino program yes otherwise no and I don't know how to do it.
how you do it?

Maybe this tutorial can help?

Thanks, now I'm going to have dinner and then I'll see if with the tutorials you linked me I can fix and I'll let you know

I tried to watch but couldn't fix my problem.
The tutorials that are there don't solve my problem.
Do you have any other help / advice?

That was my best shot, sorry.

ok thanks, i'll try it

Try and install the package core for the board, see https://docs.arduino.cc/learn/starting-guide/cores

Hi @suttix56. The video is outdated.

Some years ago, there was a legal dispute over the ownership of the "Arduino" trademark. Arduino started to establish the new trademark "Genuino" around that time, apparently as a fallback measure in the event they lost use of the trademark in a worst case court decision. That included calling the boards "Arduino/Genuino ..." in the IDE menu text you saw in the video.

Happily, that has all been settled years ago and Arduino owns the "Arduino" trademark. So they no longer have a need for this "Genuino' thing and have removed it from the IDE menu text:

This was only ever a matter of some words in a menu. The "Arduino Micro" board option you see in the modern Arduino IDE menu is 100% identical to the "Arduino/Genuino Micro" board option you saw in the video.

So please don't be worried about this difference. Just select "Arduino Micro" and get back to having fun with Arduino!
