Hi, i just bought a new arduino and tried to upload a empty code but its not even showing the port on my screen and the arduino's tx and rx leds and continuously on.
i tried everything to rectify the problem but nothing worked. i tried reinstalling the ide,changing the port, changing the cable etc.i don't know what to do. plz help
Is it an Arduino brand, or a clone/copy? Provide a link to where you bought it, we should be able to help.

In the case that it is a counterfeit; there is a good chance that you will need to manually install the CH340 Drivers. If that's the case follow the steps: How to Install CH340 Drivers - SparkFun Learn

I would not hesitate a second to take it back. Let them demonstrate that it works.
The fact that the TX/RX LEDS are on is in my opinion an indication that there is something wrong with the board. If the L LED is not blinking (blink should by default be loaded on a new board), either the board has been used before and possibly abused and returned by another customer or it was not programmed.
