I'm pretty sure that they're banned under the Hague and Geneva Conventions (and probably the Eighth Amendment)
I'm wondering what will run out first: your post quota as a noob, or my patience.
@anon56112670 Personally, I think it's the 'shrooms.
The only informations I have about you is the things you have posted here. So I tried to create a picture of how you might be. I'm aware of the fact that this picture must be at least partially wrong because I know only a few things. These few things do not cover your personality as a whole. Anyway any communication is based on the writers personality.
So the part of your personality that you have shown in this thread in my words is:
- Newcomer who knows almost nothing
- ignores requests from the helpers for additional information that would allow better help
- has just written short comments which all have too less information for beeing really helpful
has the final question:
Answer: I don't know if you have to do anything else.
If the description above is your main personality - which I don't know - if it really is.
If it is your personality
It is very likely that your project will have a lot of flaws, malfunctions, strange behaviours
If your knowledge level stays as it is you will be unable to solve these problems on your own.
and if you keep this stile of asking for help it is very unlikely that you will get help because you provide wayyyy tooo lesssss information to be even able to be helpful.
Anyway enjoy consuming your mushrooms whatever "effect" that will have.
regards Stefan
no code, no help
That must be the morel of the story.
Well, we've been kept in the dark and fed bs, like any good mushroom, so perhaps it's all consistent.
To all "concerned" members,
First let me say that I'm very new at this, so yes, I'm a newbie. With that said, I also was hoping to have some "things" explained to me, as a new member. I did post the code, and what we're doing, but, I'm sure that you were "all" newbies at some point. If I have done something wrong, and if I can learn something from "you" here, I will try to do all I can to get grip on these "things" you've explained to me. I'm sure you're frustrated with me, and you need me to post more information, fine. Tell me what you think I should do, but berating me won't make my "ignorance" any better, or go away. I don't expect you to solve my problems, or just give me the answers to my questions, but maybe some guidance. I don't have any major problems with "you", so why are "you" making fun of me? I've never been a fan of people who do so, and I don't do it anyone either. If I have learned anything from the people who do so, is that when you do it, you can discourage them from learning anything at all. I grew up with bullies, and I know how to recognize them. If I have to go somewhere else to learn, I will. But you should see it from my perspective, I don't go looking for something to make myself feel superior to anyone, but rather seeing someone who needs a hand up, "we" all deserve to be treated better than that.
Hi,
Sorry but it reads better.

We need to see your code?

See also FAQ - Arduino Forum for general rules on forum behaviour and etiquette. Hello, Welcome to the Arduino Forum. This guide explains how to get the best out of this forum. Please read and follow the instructions below. Being new here you might think this is having rules for the sake of rules, but that is not the case. If you don’t follow the guidelines all that happens is there is a long exchange of posts while we try to get you to tell us what we need in order to help you, which is fru…
What model Arduino was the code written for?
Can you please post a link to where you got your code?
Also to understand your project we will need a circuit diagram.
Thanks... Tom...
I did post the code
Where?
First let me say that I'm very new at this, so yes, I'm a newbie.
Yes, and when you signed up, you should have been provided with guidance about how to get the best of this forum. Were you not? Or did you perchance click right on through for some reason?
With that said, I also was hoping to have some "things" explained to me, as a new member.
Several posts did that, pointing you to the how-to., asking for information, etc. You didn't respond with "how do I... " or code, or any other question requiring explanation.
I did post the code, and what we're doing, but, I'm sure that you were "all" newbies at some point.
There is still no code visible. Please point to a post# where the code is.
...
I don't expect you to solve my problems, or just give me the answers to my questions, but maybe some guidance.
We will solve problems, or give answers, or guidance, but we need a technical basis for making those statements. Hence the questions.
Let's wipe the slate clean, shall we, and you go ahead and post a new problem statement, with information as outlined in the How To, and we can go from there.
I may have done many things wrong in my pursuit of the answer to my problem, and I know that I am rough around the edges. I expected too much from some of you - I am sorry. I did not think that I would be ridiculed for it. I looked through this post of mine trying to find where I put the code for my project, and not see it, BUT - all I found was the reply from this member:

The code compiles OK. You have a problem with communication between the PC and Arduino. Try the suggestions in [troubleshooting Arduino connections ](Troubleshooting 10 Common Errors in the Arduino IDE
If I had not shown the code to him, how could he verified that it was compiled correctly?
If I had not shown the code to him, how could he verified that it was compiled correctly?
Because if the as-yet unseen code got as far as uploading, it must have compiled correctly.
We don't need to see the code to know that, but we do need to see the code to be able to tell what it should do.
Please note that code that compiles does not always mean that the code behaves as desired
About the comments you received:
Are you able to see from this summary that you posted in a way that has a high chance to be interpreted as ignorant?
post #1: very short text without a question
post #2: IMHO a pollite answer asking for more details and giving a brief hint what might cause the error
post #3: additional hint for how to post the code
post #4: your complete compile-upload-log showing that the initial compile-error is gone
post #5: you mentioning that you got the code from a website but NOT posting a link to this website
post #6: a IMHO polite answer explaining compiling OK upload-problem inkluding a LINK to information how to solve such upload-problems
post #7: link to the guide how to post questions in the programming section
post #8: question for the code or link to the webside you got the code from
post #9: link to a tutorial how to ask questions to "get the best out of this forum"
additional asking for the important details that you must post so that other can be really helpful. Again asking for a link to where you got the code from
post #10: explaining that your first error-message and your second error-message are different
post #11: saying the same as post 10
post #12: correcting a detail about errors
post #13: your next answer. Saying you got the code uploading. Very general question about how to use the code
post #14: repeated question for the code itself
post #15: explaining "the code should run once it's uploaded to the microcontroller. Question about the functionality of the code
post #16: your next answer. pretty short. Only telling the main purpose of your complete project
NOT answering the questions you were asked
post #17: a picture of your hardware that shows a rather scrappy setup
post #18: a very short post from you that does NOT make sense
post #19: saying go back to read post #9 which is the one asking for details
post #20: your post saying thank you and that you will read post #9
post #21: quoting your non-sense post #18 and comment on it in a funny way
post #22: your post explaining details about the project but no details about the code
nor posting a link to your code. Which means you did NOT what you said in post #20
post #23: a comment about you NOT answering questions that would help you
post #24 adressed NOT to you
post #25: post that explains what picture you have created through the style you used for posted
commenting on what your personality might be and what conclusions I make from this
post #26: very brief comment "no code no help"
post #28: funny comment about the fact that you have still IGNORED the questions you have been asked
post #29: quoting a former posting that asks for important details YOU should answer
post #30: longer post from you. Explaining that you expected to get things explained to you.
well the explainings where the links to the tutorials how to post in a way to get effective help
Reacting pretty sensitive to the postings that were funny but worded in a way that do NOT adress you personally.
Quoting you: "Tell me what you think I should do, but berating me won't make my "ignorance" any better, or go away."
well you have been told what you should do in
- post #2,
post #31: repeats that for efficient help it is a MUST to see your code and to give details about the used microcontroller
post #32: quoting you asking for where you have posted the code
post #33: telling that you should have seen initial advice how to post
mentioning in a neutral way "there is no code visible"
post #34: post from you saying " I expected too much from some of you - I am sorry"
good to say "I'm sorry"
but saying "I expected too much from you" ?
do you expect that we are able to read your mind to get the details you were asked for 9 times?
do you expect that the communitiy visits you personally to get all this information?
Are you able to see from this summary that you posted in a way that has a high chance to be interpreted as ignorant?
To explain a little more on how the complete process works:
It is a 2 step process.
step 1: compile the source-code
step 2: only in case the compiling was successful uploading the compiled code to the microcontroller makes sence.
whenever there is a any kind of compiling error the compiler aborts the compiling-process and the upload does not take place
This means if the log of the combined compile-upload-process shows entries of the uploading you can conclude 101% sure that the compiling was successful.
