I need help connecting an LDR & DIM control from an ARDUINO to RGB Strip Microco

Hi there I'd like to connect an Arduino to an rgb strip that comes with it's own microcontroller. All i want to do is use a mosfet to dim the leds and to add an LDR for the leds to turn on at night.

I've tried wiring the Battery to + to Mosfet Gate LED and Battery - to Mosfet Source to LED - to Arduino Battery + to LED Positive + to Mosfet Drain A0 to Mosfet Gate to control the pin from the arduino

Does anyone know the answer for the wiring for this as i've tried every possible way of connecting the arduino and still nothing, either the led strip turns itself on but the arduino doesn't control it and or the leds don't turn on at all.

I don't want to have to use three mosfets to control the RGB strip, as it already has it's own mini one with a preprogrammed remote, I just simply want it to turn on at night via an LDR and if possible dim them from a potentiator.

Thank you so much for all your help

It would be easier to give you help if you post a data sheet for the LED strip. If the strip has a built in microcontroller, turning the power on and off is likely not the best way to control them.
