To make it easy for people to help you please modify your post and use the code button </> so your code looks like this and is easy to copy to a text editor. See How to use the Forum

Your code is too long for me to study quickly without copying to a text editor.

Also please use the AutoFormat tool to indent your code for easier reading.

I wonder why this code doesn’t work:

If it compiles (you didn’t say) then it does work. It may not do what you want but it is doing something.

More information please.

It looks like you are trying to declare the sing() function INSIDE the loop() function:

void loop()
{
  digitalWrite(13, LOW);
  switchstate = digitalRead(2);
  while (switchstate == HIGH)
  {
    //sing the tunes
    sing(1);
    sing(1);
    sing(2);

    int song = 0;

    void sing(int s)

You have to end loop() { and while() { with two ‘}’ before you can declare sing(). Since ‘song’ is used as a global variable the two close brackets have to go between “sing(2);” and" int song = 0;"
