I need soil moisture sensor suggestions for my project

I have to measure soil moisture in my project. It should be as cheap as possible because i won't use only one soil moisture sensor. The most common sensor is this:

I learned that they get corroded easily. I thought use it only when i need, to avoid corrosion. But i also learned that, it takes about 20 minutes to give 'robust' results. So, i need your suggestions. My first priority is get robust results.

I need your suggestions.

This sensor looks promising as a commercial solution. Alternatively you could always make your own moisture sensor.
