I need some help with identifying hardware

I didn't know which topic this should be in, and this seemed like the most fitting one.

I received a shipment of Arduino-compatible hardware but I can't seem to identify a few parts. Could somebody have a look at them and tell me, please? I'm not very good with the hardware

The parts are in the image link

I just get a page with allot of bullshit videos and pics with a request to open an app. Since I have no clue what the app is, does, or who made it for security reasons I will not open or install it. You will need to find another way to show those components to me.

With regards Mike

Are you on a smartphone or something, because that link works fine.
Obviously they imgur.com have to make money, but the photo is in the middle of that page.
I am not asked to open or install anything.

Hello again,

I am indeed using a smartphone. I opened the page 3 times, and each time I was asked to open an app. Witch is strange, I have this phone for 13 months and haven't seen this anymore since I installed the Brave add blocker, security add on. I'm glad it works for you guys and you are able to provide help. I'm sure you understand that I am careful these days when I'm being asked to open an unnamed app.

I hope you get the help requested,

Mike

The best way to post images on this forum is covered in this handy image guide.

Indeed Vince, it's very easy to use, also we have a very easy way to post clickable links and code. Yet it seems still to be to difficult or to time consuming to learn for a new member, that usually joins us after being frustrated, disappointed at the point when he joins us. And after registering and finding the forum they just start typing posting copied and pasted links, without knowing the proper way, the same with code.

I think for newbies there should be pop-up the first 5 or 10 times they post to guide them to the explanation of how to use these great features that we have.

I know I sometimes can't be bothered to go search for a link hidden between text and therefore just don't answer a question.

With regards
Mike

That method only works if you click on Reply.

When I click on " Quote" which I do most of the time, I don't get the option to attach anything.
I quote to be specific about which post I am replying to.

This forum acts differently when one Quotes versus Reply.
I have just tested it myself.

If you click on Reply and then scroll down all the posts and then click the " Quote no-underlined link (it should be made more obvious it is clickable), then you get the best of both worlds --- being able to Quote and attach at the same time.
Try that on your smartphone.

Yes, you are right there ieee488, this is indeed something that could be improved upon. Don't get me wrong my friend, I wasn't blaming you for anything only posting this in the hope a moderator reads this thread and maybe they make some changes. I screwed up too when I started out here, until a few moderators where pretty mean to me, that's something I don't agree with. So I hope to see you here around more often and that you really enjoy working with the Arduino and also every other electronics projects. Have fun my friend!!!!

With regards,

Mike

I often reply and place a token in my response like FirstPicHere
Then I Post the message.
Then I go in to More>>Modify to attach the image and save..
Then I go in again to post in the actual link location as the image.

I think device 1 may be photodiode or phototransistor. They look very similar. You can say from forward drop, I don't know if it is possible to determine what the part it is from picture only.

EDIT: to make it clear it MAY be an IrLED. But I got a phototransistor in my starter kit and no IrLED (only Ir remote). It was called "flame detector" in the kit description. You need to try it.

re: photodiode or phototransistor

i saved this (simple) HTML a long time ago, i forgot where i saved it from, so apologies for not crediting proper source.

it shows how to tell them apart, and circuits for testing if visually it's not possible.

EDIT:
HTMLs not allowed to be attached (for security i guess - it's a bare HTML with no active script nor style so it's safe to view locally - have saved as text file, which you rename as 'html' if you want to view it in your browser with the two pictures.
