I R q's

i just got a paired ir transmitter and reciever, and i had some questions about them:

first off, what is the distance these guys usually work well at?
( 2 led's came, one is 5mm which im guessing is the transmitter, and a 3mm, which im guessing is the reciever )

also, how do i hook it up to the arduino? obviously the transmitter just needs 5v, a resistor, and gnd, but what does the reciever hook up to? analog input? digital input?

i'm just using them to see if the beam is unborken, or broken

thanks in advance to anybody that helps!

anybody? please ;D ;D

Big93,

there are many ir tx and rx.

There are some datasheets.

Good luck

datasheets dident help too much.... i know cathodes's and anode's but i dont know how to communicat them with the arduino...

I can't help you with real information, but since no one answer until now, I suggest you try this:
