I think the linux side of my YUN is dead.

Hi,

I just got worried and so decided to attack this forum. I recently did the upgrade of openwrt and everything seamed to work fine. Unfortunatelly. Now I see no "white led" by the USB. When i push wlan rst nothing blinks and when i push yun rst the usb led comes whiter and than when i leave it, it stops being whiter. The only led active now is the one with "on". I tried the "blink" sketch and it works. I also see the arduino in IDE under com9.

To give you a clue of what I was doing. Playing with rs232 and talking through arduino serial to putty emulated com10. It worked and as for second phase I wanted to make it work over console. Than I figured out there is no "usb light". I than pushed the yun rst button and the light came back. I than tried it and saw that the console is sending some trash to com10 all the time and recieiving only some info from it. Now the usb light doesn't want to light at all. I'm sure there is some procedure to check what is going on since this is prototypin platform.

Could you point me in any direction?

It may be that your Bridge sketch is interfering with uboot (the very first thing the linux side of the yun runs when powered on)
Two checks:

  • upload yunSerialTerminal, open serial monitor then press YUN RST button (near the leds). If you see lots of text being printed, eventually the usb led will lit
  • with your original sketch, try a full power cycle (unplug/replug the yun)

Thanks, tried it all. Appears to be dead. I made a warranty try. We will see. In the mean time I bought a new one.
