As your topic does not relate directly to IDE version 1.x it has been moved to the Project Guidance category of the forum
As to your question, what have you done so far ?
Like, beverage cans as in a soda machine? Do they move down a chute or on a path or something? A small microswitch
like this could do it, if so.
Get hold of a book teaching the C language and see what it might look like. Then trying example codes from the IDE will make You learn more and grow. Just making the lot giving You a new toy is not the goal for this forum.
This is not a free coding service, you need to do the coding your self and we will help you with your problems. There is a book called Arduino Cookbook, get a copy and read, it will answer most of your questions.
Weight ? Passing a sensor ?
Do you have a sensor in mind? To count cans you need to detect cans and you make no mention of your setup? Cans passing on a conveyor? Cans by weight? You need to provide much more information if you expect help.
Ron
In what condition are the cans? Full, empty, partial, intact, crushed, dry, wet ... ?
The condition and environment will effect the choice of detecter.
