I rather like to use VIM when editing, however it's a multi step process to kill the Arduino window, bring up Arduino, do a File/Sketchbook/Program, etc. It would be handy to have a reload option under the File menu.

Try checking the "Use external editor" option in the preferences dialog. I think it will reload the files when you press compile or upload.
