Hello:
I have a Raspberry Pi 2B and a Gerboard running Raspbian with all the updates - I am trying to program an ATmega328. I have followed the AVR and Arduino installation instructions from Drogon. The AVR test comes back saying that I'm all set to program. However, when I click menu/Electronics/Arduino IDE I see cursor activity for a moment then nothing; no IDE opens.
I have alos downloaded the tar file from this site and followed the set up instructions. The files set up in /home/pi/Downloads/arduino-1.6.5. I've run the scripts and gotten the desktop short cut, but the IDE will still not open. What must I do differently to fix this problem?

Raspian is not supported. There is some ongoing community effort in making the IDE work on raspian. You can join @CRimler and help him/her at Adding ARM builds for Raspberry Pi and co. · Issue #3334 · arduino/Arduino · GitHub
