IDE 1.8.8 install has a stopped saving my last last file loaded

I installed IDE 1.8.8 about a week ago.
Previously When I opened the IDE, the last file I opened/loaded is not loaded and a new blank sketch is opened instead.

Is there a way to get back the old way of opening the last file ?

This is a known bug with Arduino IDE 1.8.8. It has already been fixed, but there has not been a release of the Arduino IDE since that time. If it's really a problem for you, you can use Arduino IDE 1.8.7, which you can download here:
