IDE 2.3.2 serial monitor, ctrl-a still marking only the source code

I was trying to copy all serial port output as a way to get all results out to a text editor. I was only able to mark the source code. The output is several hundred lines long so dragging is not a good way. After following some "your topic is similar to..." links, and one git issue raised, it seems that the developers were not taking this suggestion. Names were called even.

Here is one of them:

Not sure if any active investigation into this issue though. I can use other serial monitors.

Another solution is to use the good old Arduino IDE 1.8.19.

Which can be installed as a completely independant IDE when installed as a "portable" version

Thanks. I have that open simultaneously with 2.3.2! Sorry to see how you were treated by the developers when raising a legitimate question.

Hard to say.

I know there are several issues up on github about the Serial Monitor, including one of mine

Missing "Select All" capability for Serial Monitor · Issue #812 · arduino/arduino-ide (github.com)

Which was opened over 2.5 years ago. Last update on this issue was over a year ago, where one of the developers removed the assignment from themself.

As for active investigation, I don't know. I have not seen any Pull Requests, into the Arduino-ide project which has any appearance of being related. The closest one is one to add support for clear-screen and move to home, which was submitted last April...

I like many others do wish that someone will resolve some of the basic bugs, like only that portion of your selection, that is in the window will be put into the clipboard. Many of these others would just be gravy.

But I totally understand that they only have so much development time...

Thanks @KurtE I recognize your handle (pre-new-arduino forum). That's sad, the lack of updates. Sometimes it's the attitude of these time-limited developers towards people making suggestions. It's all that separates us from "a great fellow just strapped for time to help us all" or from "an arrogant fool who didn't even use their own creation for a second to see all its apparent flaws".

Terse responses. :unamused:

Yes. It would be nice to know the order in which things were being addressed, even if there was no timetable
