IDE sometimes opens files in random locations on the sketch?

Would there be a reason why the IDE would sometimes open files randomly in the file instead at the top?

Hi @whizatit. I'm not sure I understood correctly what you mean by this. Please provide a more detailed description to help me to understand it.

Please also tell me which version of Arduino IDE are you using (e.g., "2.0.1")? The version is shown on the window title bar and also in the Help > About dialog.

when a ino file is opened the text window where you input information will sometimes open randomly in the sketch area not at the top of the sketch

Thanks for the screenshot. I suspect that the reason is that it tries to make life easier to continue editing from where you ended the previous edit session.

Possibly i assume, is there a way to turn that off as an option?

I just did a browse through the Arduino IDE's advanced settings and didn't find any setting that controls this behavior of remembering the previous scroll position.

As a workaround, you can use the Ctrl+Home keyboard shortcut to quickly jump to the top of the page.
