IDE v2.3.4 suddenly stopped loading

i used the IDE v2.3.4 this morning on my Linux mint v21 laptop. It worked OK, as it has done for the last six months. This evening, i came to use it again and the IDE doesn't load.
When i click on the icon, i get a white screen with the banner along the top showing the last sketch opened and "Arduino IDE V2.3.4". The pulsing logo doesnʻt show.

I used a script from Co-Pilot to totally remove the IDE and re-install it. That ran without errors, yet the problem is unchanged. The linux terminal commands are still a mystery to me.

I also checked other apps on the PC, Libre Office, and graphics apps look like theyʻre working OK. The laptop did did a few updates earlier, iʻve not paid close attention to them as they have always worked. One I do remember was linux core (i think)..V5.15.

Has anyone seen this before and has a possible solution?
My apologies for a lack of detail, Linux is still a mystery to me and Iʻm not sure which info would be relevant.

Thanks In Advance

Good Morning
My problem is solved.
Whilst I slept on it, I realised I should have tried the app downloaded from the arduino site rather than the Linux software manager.
Anyway, the appimage is running , and I can continue.
What caused the original app to corrupt is still a mystery.
