IDE Won't See My ESP32C3 Mini Dev Board

I’m looking for help getting my IDE 2.3.3-nightly-20240630 to see my new (and my first) ESP32-C3 Mini Wifi Dev board. Device manager sees it as com 7 but not the IDE.

After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I installed 2.0.14 of esp32 by Espressif as instructed, then, under ‘tools’ under ‘Boards’, under esp32, I selected ESP32C3 Dev Module as instructed.

Then, when I went to select the com port in IDE, com 7 wasn’t listed but it was still listed in my ‘Device Manager’

Re-watching YouTube, I held down the boot button on the ESP32C3 and powered it up again. Still showing in Device Manager but not showing up on the IDE.

The YouTube videos I was watching were 4 and 2 years old. Maybe there is something newer because things change so fast these days.

Can someone help be to get the IDE to see the correct com port so I can program this ESP32?

Just to be sure there were no conflicts, I removed all references to ESP32. like Adafruit ESP32 and any esp32 by Espressif from Board Manager.

Then I installed 2.0.14 of esp32 by Espressif, just this one only in Board Manager.

And, now it finds my ESP32C3Mini Dev Board and allows me to program it.

Must have conflicts with other ESP32 in Board Manager.

Something to remember if one buys ESP32s from several suppliers and forgets to adjust Board Manager.
