I forget sometimes any hey, I want to share an idea I have... Put function at bottom of a template or your existing sketches. The function captures LINE when it's called by setup(). It stores count in SPIFFS along with version Major/minor numbers, and dates. It adds minor for changes in line count, and major if changes occurred for several days.. I also had idea that instead of numbers it would use two phonetic alphabet word lists.

Sounds more like self-incriminating version numbers. 
IOW, I don't think it makes sense.
