Identifying SMD component

Does anyone know what this is..

J189 4D

I'm pretty sure it's a PNP Transistor, but I can't fint it anywhere, I need a pin-though equivalent.

It's the 3 big components in this pic..

As the component are labled FET1, FET2 ... Then my guess is that it is a FET.

Well yes me too, but it seems to be doing the job of a tansistor. I’m no expert but someone who looked at the circuit I drew that I derived from taht PCB said it would be a tansistor not a FET becasue of how the rest of the circuit works.

But whatever it is, FET or TRX I need to find the pin through version :frowning:

I searched google for "J189 FET", which I'm sure you did already, and found this page:

So maybe it is a Sanyo J189? So then I searched for "Sanyo J189 Datasheet" and found this page:\2sj189_12706.pdf

which links to:\2sj189_12706.pdf

Maybe that's it?

said it would be a tansistor not a FET becasue of how the rest of the circuit works.

I think they are wrong if they think there is a big difference between a PNP transistor or p-channel FET in a circuit.

lol I was searching for “J189 4D” and found a couple of mentions but nothing useful - I was surprised TBH I was expecting to find a data sheet.

Thanks for you help!

Well I've done some more googling, but I can't find anywhere that I can order that part form in the UK :(

Does anyone know if this will do the job instead?

I compared the 2 spec sheets and there are differences between the 2 but I dont know how these will affect the rest of the circuit, if at all :S

You look for the gate voltage specifying the Ron value. That tells you if it is a logic level FET or not.

That FET is here:-

Although if you want a FET with the same package then look here:-|0&suppressRedirect=true&locale=en_UK&appliedparametrics=true&getResults=true&divisionLocale=en_UK&catalogId=&skipManufacturer=false&skipParametricAttributeId=&prevNValues=204245+110187251+110181787&mm=1001803||,&filtersHidden=false&appliedHidden=false&autoApply=true&originalQueryURL=%2Fjsp%2Fsearch%2Fbrowse.jsp%3FN%3D204245%26No%3D0%26getResults%3Dtrue%26appliedparametrics%3Dtrue%26locale%3Den_UK%26divisionLocale%3Den_UK%26catalogId%3D%26skipManufacturer%3Dfalse%26skipParametricAttributeId%3D%26prevNValues%3D204245

JEDEC naming conventions for transistors: 2S is not practically printable on the device. So J189 is really 2SJ189 when you go looking for pubs.
