Iduino yun or esp8266

Hey. So I about to start an IoT project. I have arduino mega currenlt. So what I need to do is upload the sensors data to database using wifi and be able to retrieve data when needed. My other requirement is I need to be able to log on to the admin on the database using my arduino. I get confused whether I should use esp8266 or iduino yun. Can anyone help me out?

esp8266 is a microcontroller programmable with Arduino IDE.
Yun is Atheros AR9331 with OpenWrt Linux similar to systems used for example in WiFi access points and routers.

You have two choices:

  1. stay with the Arduino Mega and add the ESP-01. The ESP-01 only does wifi and nothing else
    or
  2. port over to something like all-in-one board such as Wemos D1 mini pro https://wiki.wemos.cc/products:d1:d1_mini_pro or the other boards mentioned in A Beginner's Guide to the ESP8266
