iintersil 8038 sinewave gen ic.

2 of these arrived, took a look at the data sheet and to my surpise it even has the schematics for the ic

Anyone know what intersils quality is like? Had any issues with their products?

1rst time you see an IC schematics in a datasheet ?

about Intersil and 8038...AFAIK, well known company, well known and good product, but discontinued

Ahhh that explains a few things!

As to have i seen them, yes but to not this level of detail, take the comparitor section it's marvelousy detailed to the extent you could build it with little else to go on... most just give vague details.

HI,
I've been trying to get one of those for years (on & off). Maxim did the MAX038 which was more or less the same thing, but that too is now unavailable??

Where did you get them from??

Regards
Mel.

Them? You better give me a karma for finding you them lol

I guess it's been withdrawn because direct digital synthesis is so cheap now. For example, you can get this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-AD9850-DDS-Signal-Generator-Module-0-40MHz-Test-Equipment-/180820399452?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item2a19bc555c.

10 or 12 years ago, I tested the 8038 and also the 2206, and decided the latter had much better signal quality, and ended up using it. Latter is still available, although about 2X as expensive now. For d/s, see

However, in today's brave new world, I'd probably go to DDS, like dc42 says.
