Hello,
I just spent one hour at understanding how the Arduino IDE include system works.
I did want to include a file, with some macros, globals and functions in there.
I named my file with extension ".ino", but I wasn't able to include it (No such file or directory), but the file did exist ! It was even included to project as a tab.
So I renamed it to something.cpp ; At that time :
- if I include my file, I've got a Multiple definition of [everything] error.
- if I don't include my file, I've got Not declared in this scope errors
The word "include" means include, I want my files to be included as is to the includer file, not to be compiled separately and linked with.
Finally, I renamed my file to something.h , and it worked.
I found nothing on the Internet explaining this. Maybe it does exist, but then, those explanations are hard to find.
This is just an improvement proposal, so in the future, people like me will manage to do it easier.
Thank you
