IMU selection with on-board Kalman filter/Processing

Hey, I'm looking for IMU board recommendations, I need one that can process the sensor's data and REMOVE the influence of the earth's acceleration due to gravity from the acceleration data.

I've noticed that user jremington responds to alot of imu questions, would be great if they can advise me.

I've checked out Pololu's boards, on jremington's suggestion in previous threads, and the UM7 seems like a great contender. However, while it says it provides acceleration data, I am unsure if it provides the acceleration data with the acceleration due to gravity removed, or just processes the raw data and gives out orientation from the Kalman filter. Thanks.

The UM7 data sheet is here: Pololu - UM7 Orientation Sensor

It does not appear to provide acceleration values with the estimated gravity component removed. However, it is not difficult to do that separately, given the estimated orientation.

The question remains whether the estimated orientation is accurate enough for this subtraction to be useful.

I strongly doubt that it is and CHRobotics seems to agree. Commercial IMUs that do so cost in the general range of $10,000+.
