IMU with Arduino Leonardo

I am a beginner in the arduino environment and I was handed a task to create an autonomous vehicle that will perform a closed loop feedback using an IMU. I am very interested in finding about more but I was unable to get relevant information on how to start implementing the IMU to arduino.

My arduino is a leonardo and the imu i am using was designed in-house that has a mpu 6000.

I am currenlty using the FREE IMU library from varesano. net and the Free IMU quaternion is currenlty what I am using together with the processing file Free IMU cube.
