Leaving the dog out of it, I think the greater likelihood is that the cat is in the room under the sofa rather than out through the window.
And the system ought to be able to detect the cat's emergence from under the sofa (on the way to somewhere else) and if the signal is not detected somewhere else there is probably a good prima facie reason to assume s/he has gone out through the window (assuming of course that there is an open window and the cat has a known propensity to exit via windows).
Even Schroedinger could not be sure where his cat was, but I dare say he was pragmatic enough to feed it regularly.

Yeah I tried to "spoof" RSSI by counting the packets received within a timeframe but the issue was that with the nRF24 modules I was using either all the packets got through or none of them did.
Yes, that's what you'd expect in an indoor environment - nothing is changing between those retries, so the
path gain (ie loss) won't vary much and the received signal will either be enough for all packets, or not.
Exceptions happen when there are interference spikes, but they typically take out one packet.
I was looking for real posts on this project.
Guess this is not the right place, just a place for jokes - not good ones.
So far I have found this company with a good looking product. Any reviews?

It has been mentioned in a number of other Threads as the only practical (but expensive) indoor positioning system. Perhaps the reason it was not mentioned in this Thread is because it may not be appropriate for tracking the cat that was at the centre of the Thread (until it escaped).
